Writing 39C Portfolio

Welcome!
My name is Amanda Duong. I am a sophomore at UC Irvine, majoring in Biological Sciences. I aspire to be a dermatologist in the future. I was born and raised in Orange County in California and stayed in my hometown for college. I am involved in many organizations such as Illumination Foundation, TEDxUCIrvine, and UCI Greek Life. I founded my own nonprofit called GoOcean in highschool, which promotes health, fitness, and life-enhancing qualities for all young people through aquatic and community service activities. During my free time, I enjoy photography, Disneyland, piano, traveling, and sports. Sports include ballet, karate, tennis, golf, swim, and ice skating.
Writing 39C is the third and last course of the Writing 39 series. This course builds upon students' abilities in critical reading and rhetoric by focusing on research and argumentation. The theme is animal science and advocacy and is led by Greg McClure. The two main papers for this course are the Historical Conversations Project (HCP) and the Advocacy Project (AP). Another project is the Social Medica Campaign. Throughout the ten weeks, smaller assignments, which further build upon critical reading, writing conventions, and the research process, are due on Canvas.
