This week, the assignment for twitter was more specific. We had to add photos, start a thread, and find more articles. I was so excited when I learned about Twitter threads because the threads organize my thoughts and tweets into a coherent sequence. I focused on dolphin science and conservatory efforts while making my thread because I am interested in researching dolphins for my projects later in the course. I learned that dolphins are highly intelligent, using biological sonar for navigation and food location. They also can turn half of their brains off to rest while the other half is awake in order to avoid predators.
Another part of the assignment was to respond to my peers' blogs. One of the more remarkable responses that I wrote was for Stacy Sun. I praised her being able to remember a reading in middle school about wolves' emotional and intellectual capabilities. She was able to relate it with the chapter on wolves in Beyond Words by Carl Safina and analyze the discrepancies in information. When she wrote about her research process, she was very brief and referred to her sources as "UCI Library Database." I urged her to be more specific and offered an example of how I used the Academic Search Complete often to find scholarly articles to refine my topic.
I learned a lot about Twitter and my peers this week, and I hope to find more interesting articles to share next week!
